I am not normally a purple person, but do love the colour of this dress (probably more majenta than purple) and I felt the need for some colour because I'm grumpy today (have had a headache for 3 days now).  My favourite thing about this dress is the pockets - I love dresses with pockets.

I loooooooooooove this look.  I feel really classic and chic and have just so much confidence when I wear this dress.  It originally came with pockets, but they created a weird bump at the hips, so I had them removed.  It really it amazing how a little tweak can make a world of difference.

UPDATE: For some reason I had this purse from J.Crew in my office and I immediately thought that it would look better with the outfit - and I think it does.

Execution: Love the way this looks (except for the blurry pic!).  Love the skirt - the colour and the fabric.  I know there have been a lot of complaints about the latest No. 2 pencil skirts from J.Crew, but IMO I actually prefer the slightly lighter fabric.

FALL UPDATE #1

I'm very excited to be getting my first delivery of fall from J.Crew this afternoon.  These are a few of the things I'm expecting...

Blythe Silk Blouse in Retro Jade - I have a few of these blouses in other colours and just could not resist this colour - OMG!!

Schoolboy Blazer in Wool Flannel in Heather Acorn - such a classic.

No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double Serge Wool in Retro Jade.  I just saw this on Bee from Atlantic-Pacific today and know I'm going to love it.  I had already thought it would look super with some leopard print heels and low and behold - I was right!!

And the Pepper Tweed Jacket and Skirt.  I really hope this looks as good as I imagine - I just love it!

OOTD - GRRRRRRRRR

This sweater is one of my all time favourites (I also have it in black).  There's just something I find very elegant about it - almost Kate Hepburn like - just loose and drapey and sexy without being overt.  And it covers ALL the flaws - how can you not love that?

It was a weekend of gluttony and the # on the scale freaked me out this morning, so I wanted something loose and comfy.  And I have no external meetings today.  And it's supposed to be another hot one...so I went with this linen dress, which I love (an normally wear with a belt), but wow I am already so wrinkled.  Still...I am super comfy and think this is still kind of cute.

OOTD - RED WHITE AND BLUE

I'm not sure about this outfit.  In fact, the only reason I'm wearing it is because I had to get out of the house - if I had more time, I would have tried something else.  And, although the skirt is custom by eShakti (as previously mentioned here), it's way too big on the waist - perhaps my measurements were off?  I have to take it to the tailor to get it properly fitted.  I do love it though.

Today is nail day!!!  I have been getting gel nails every 3 weeks for about 7 years now (don't even ask how much $$$ that is!!!).  My nail lady is the freaking best and she was doing gel colour long before anyone else was.  What colour should I get today - decisions, decisions...

OOTD - I'VE GOT THE BLUES

I don't really, but that's a lot of navy! 

It is going to be hot hot hot today, so I decided to go with a light cotton sweater - something a little less structured on top helps to keep me a bit cooler.  I never used to be a fan of dots, but have really gotten into them in the last year or so (thanks a lot J.Crew) and I adore this skirt!

I do try to have some sort of an outfit theme each week - this week is navy, red and white.  (So okay, there is no red in my outfit today - save for the nails - but it's within the theme.)  I think it makes planning my outfits a lot easier.  I tend to hang up some things within the theme in the open section of my closet on Sunday and then use that as an "inspiration board" throughout the week. 

Ugh...I really do not photograph well :-(

OOTD - CUSTOM

I love, love, love this dress.  eShakti has a line of dresses, skirts, etc that are then custom made to your measurements (although for some reason, the dress was a bit big, which was surprising considering it was apparently made to my measurements.  Anyways...

I first read about it on Jezebel and while a lot of the styles are not "me", I found a few really classic dresses and skirts.  And the prices are just amazing. 

I have to say, I really love this look.  I feel very classic - kind of like I should be in a movie in the 50s (but hopefully not too literal and a little more modern).  To me, the classics never go out of style.  What do you think?

I have a tiny obsession with J.Crew.  And when I say tiny, I mean huge.  The dress is tighter than I like across my rib cage (which is huge), but I don't think it's terrible.  At least my hair is good today, even though it's raining and dreary.

OOTD - BLUE SKIES

Love the colour of this dress - it's just so stunning.  I felt better about how I looked before I took these pictures (at the end of the day no less!!) and now I just feel frumpy and gross.  And man alive, when did my boobs get so big??

What do you think is better though - with or without the cardigan??

I am flumoxed as to how all these wonderful lady bloggers take pictures of themselves without the phone covering their whole body?  The hubster is a part-time photographer - you'd think I'd be able to use him, but we hardly see each other during the day.  Lucky guy gets to mostly see me in my "house clothes" - haha.
